Campfire Reflection

Dear Guides,

Now that campfire is over, I'm sure many of us would have created many fond memories with our fellow guide sisters. During this period of time, you would have gone through many ups and downs, thus this would be a good time for us to reflect on what we have done or think about what could have been improved.

Please type out your reflection for Polaris 2013, saying:

1) What you enjoyed about the campfire
2) 3 things that was good about campfire
3) 3 things that was bad about campfire
4) 3 things that can be improved about campfire.

I strongly urge all of you to take some time to ponder over these points so our next campfire can be a better one. Although this campfire was not the best, but our efforts have paid off and I believe the next one would be better. Have a great rest, drink up and prepare yourself for the next project A*Guides is about to undertake (NDP). We can all do this together.

Yours In Guiding,
Hui Hui

  1. I really enjoyed the atmosphere during the campfire and it was fun to watch the performances and the games played during the campfire. I feel that the campfire was very well done and everybody put in their best effort.
One thing that is good about the campfire is the fire. I feel that the "fire" was very creative and well-made although we did not use a real one. I also think that the decorations and the souvenirs were very nicely done. The third thing that I found good about the campfire was the structure which looks very nice.
However, one thing bad about the campfire was that it was held indoors and we did not get to light a real fire. Nevertheless, it was still very enjoyable.
I feel that some things that could be improve would be the choice of songs as a few songs were too long-winded but most of the songs were quite okay. More games could also be included.
Overall, I feel that the campfire was a success and I really enjoyed it.

  2. As I did not manage to attend the campfire, I am not able to answer all the questions. However, after watching the video clip my friend took during the campfire, I feel that the fire for the campfire was really unique and cool! I also feel that the dance our graduated ma'ams performed was really nice. I also think that the souvenir was really nice and unique as they use a ping pong ball as the Earth. I also think that having the campfire in the hall with aircon is good as if we have the campfire outdoors, it might be quite hot.
I feel that there could have other commonly known guides songs such as kookaburra so that others who are not in guides are able to sing along too. I suggest that maybe there could have been more games and maybe the people who are invited to our campfire can perform too. In a nutshell, I feel that the campfire was successful and I am sure the people who have attended it enjoyed it too.

  3. I enjoyed the performance put up by A*Guides and our graduates :D I also enjoyed the sing-along session where we can sing out lungs out.
3 things good about the campfire :)
•It was organised and efficient. We were prepared for any last minute or unexpected work. Our readiness have led us to a success 
•The games were exciting and I believe we are all proud to have Chloe “surviving” for quite some time in the musical chair. The games have also bonded us together :D
•Everything was awesome, with the emcees playing an important role. I really admire their brave souls  And I really appreciate their efforts to take up their own free time to memorise the script and stuff~

3 things bad about the campfire 
•We didn’t get to experience the real fire glowing in the dark but I enjoyed the air-con though ^^
•The schools invited didn’t reach our school on time and some of the ushers missed the first part of the campfire 
    •Nth else?

3 things to improve on the campfire
•We could have announced our campfire earlier to have more people attending 
•The communities should have stayed until they have cleared up their own preparations unless they have a valid reason to leave. But I believe everything will be cleared up in no time if all of us helps one another.
    •Nth else.

Overall, it was enjoyable  Thank You Seniors for all your hard work! Honestly, they are the ones who does most of the preparations and knows what to do. Sorry if I have caused trouble instead of helping 

  5. I enjoyed the performances and singing songs together with everyone. Also, some of the games that were played were fun to watch.
Everyone (emcees, performers etc) were all prepared, the campfire went smoothly and the atmosphere was 'high'. Also, the items the different committees made were very nicely done.
We had to skip some songs due to the lack of time and not all the people at the campfire was as enthusiastic as some of the time they did not respond to the emcees and the songs were not sang as loudly.
We could have had more games or shorter games as some games were too long. Also, some guests did not know some of the songs, thus it seemed like only A* Guides were singing.

  6. I have mixed feelings about the campfire. On one hand, I was really happy that so many Andersonians went(I expected much fewer)and from what I heard from my friends, most of them really enjoyed themselves. On the other hand, although we did spend a lot of time and effort on our various committees, not all the work was up to standard. For example, I heard from the graduated seniors that if other schools think your structure is good, they'll take it back with them. However, most of the structures were left in the hall and being the I/C of structure, I regret not doing a better job on the structures. Also, because of time constraint, we were not able to sing some songs such as Moonlight Bay and Silvery Moon which are really nice songs. Also, there seemed to be more Andersonians than Guides/Scouts and the Andersonians couldn't really sing a long to the Guding/Scouting songs; but this could not be helped. Other than this, I thought the campfire was pretty much okay and that all of us enjoyed ourselves! We also bonded with our committee members while doing campfire prep. The juniors would also be able to learn from the mistakes made in this campfire should they need to guide future juniors in the organisation of future campfires.

  7. Something that i enjoy most about the campfire is definitely atmosphere because it was really fun and exciting. Although not as many scouts and guides came, the process of it really bonded us together and allowed us to work together well. I am really glad that many of the people enjoyed themselves, it was heart warming to see after all the effort we had put in for this campfire. Many people came for the campfire which was a plus point and i think they enjoyed the performances very much. There were no mishaps throughout the campfire which was very thankful. However, the bad points were the time constraints of starting late due to not being able to finish within the given time and also the campfire duration was too long thus we had to cut out 3 songs. I think being an emcee was fun however, because many people were not in uniform groups, they did not know how to sing the songs and the mood was not as lively. I thought that although it was not a perfect campfire, we all did out best to meet the targets and what matters most is that we enjoyed it. I hope that our juniors are able to learn from our mistakes and progress to making an even better campfire. i hope they can put in more effort and do their best.

  8. I enjoyed watching the performances and having fun with the others. One good thing about the campfire was that there were nice decorations. Another good thing about the campfire was that the atmosphere was very good and the performances were really enjoyable. The third thing that I felt was good about the campfire was that I had a lot of fun while singing the songs.
One of the bad things was that the campfire was held indoor. Other than that, I think that the campfire was a great one and I had lots of fun.

  9. What i enjoyed about the campfire was all the performances performed by the secondary 2,seniors and SJAB. Their performance was really splendid. I also enjoyed our own performance as we bonded alot and we took alot of effort and time to learn, practice and coordinate with one another, and finally we could show our performance to everyone.

3 things good about the campfire was the fire, souvenir and the gateway. The fire was good as it was improvised from the idea of the fireball, since campfire was indoors. When the light started to roll down the string from the top(the PA room),i was already feeling so excited a i did not know what will happen next. And when the light reached the fan, they on the fan and lots of sparkling things start to fly above it. It was really amazing. The souvenir was good too as if it was me to think and make the stuff,i don't think i could make it so nice. They were really creative and made use of ping pong ball and painted it such that it looked like an Earth. I like the one than is shaped like a star and has lots of toothpicks around it. Lastly, the gateway was good as it was really interesting. They made they gateway like a tunnel that people could walk through it and it gives people a feeling as if they were in space as it is dark inside.

3 things bad about the campfire was the campfire preparation was too late. If we started much earlier maybe it would be better. I feel that our committee should have made more stuff to make the hall nicer. Although i took us some time to make all the decoration items,i still feel that we can improve on the quantity of it. Lastly is the games. If there are more games, the campfire would be more fun and it helps bond us with other schools.

3 things that can be improved is the games as mentioned earlier. If there are more games it would be more fun. Another thing that can be improved is the preparation time. Preparation on the day itself was rather busy as we only had about 2-3 hours to get everything ready. Lastly i think that our committee can make more decorations to make the hall a nicer environment. Overall, i enjoyed myself in the campfire! :)

  10. 1) One thing I enjoyed about the campfire was that it helped me bond a lot more with my juniors and fellow batchmates. Through the preparation of the campfire, I got the chance to work with my juniors and get to know them better. Also, I managed to learn a lot more about campfires and time and stress management. Seeing all the hard work reflected on the success of the campfire was also a very good feeling, and through this campfire, I feel that the company became a lot more bonded.
    2) The first good thing was that everyone enjoyed themselves, both during the preparation and the actual campfire day. Most of the guides were very willing to help, and all of us did our best. We truly enjoyed ourselves at the campfire, and took this as a chance to be bonded even further.
Another good thing was the fire. Since the campfire was changed to a indoors one, the fire committee had to change their ideas completely. However, they were very innovative and came up with a very cool idea. The fire was really impressive.
Lastly, the good thing is the performances put up. We managed to learn the dances in such a short time, and everyone worked hard. The senior’s performance was also very entertaining.
    3) One bad thing about the campfire was that we did not have a lot of time for preparation, and a lot of things were rushed. As the proposals were confirmed late, we had very little time for preparation. Also, as the sec3s did not have a lot of experience with campfires, I was very unsure of what to do at first. The campfire was also postponed in order for us to complete our preparations. Luckily, all worked out quite well in the end.
Another bad thing was that I think our committee could have done a better job. As the location of the campfire was changed, the deco ideas had to be changed a little. We also did not have a lot of ideas, so I think that the decorations were not enough and were a little plain.
Lastly, a bad thing was that because of the quick invitation very close to the campfire date, many schools could not come to the campfire. As a result, the campfire had to be postponed. I felt a little sad as everyone had been rushing to complete the campfire preparations by the deadline, but it is a better choice as this gave us more time to work on our performances and also, more schools were present on the actual day :D
    4) Something that can be improved is the submission of the proposals at the beginning. If the submission was not pushed back by so much, there would have been enough time to complete the preparation and to invite more schools.
One thing that my committee can improve on is to come up with more ideas as the hall was a little plain on the actual day. I feel that we could have done a lot more if we really tried to, and we should have put more effort into it.
Another thing to be improved is the setting up on the actual campfire day. It was a little rushed that day, and we did not have enough time for a break. However, it was good that the little difficulties we met were all overcome in the end.
Overall, the campfire was a really great experience and I really enjoyed myself !^^

  11. I enjoyed the performances and the singing, especially the ones that we would all form in a big group, like the thousand legged worm. It was fun to jump about and play and sing at the same time. I also enjoyed bonding with my committee.
I liked the fire. The fire was actually quite nice even though it was fake. I really liked the 'lighting' of the fire and the confetti 'exploding'. It is a very creative idea. The deco was also nice. I liked the planets. It was painted beautifully.
There was a time constraint when doing the preparations, thus some things could have done even better. The time allocated for the games could also be altered. For eg, the game of musical chairs was quite long as there were many people and the music played for quite a while.
However, I'm sure all of us had a great time at the campfire where we all had a part to play, no matter how big or small. Memorable.

  12. 1) I love the performances, the cheerful atmosphere and the games were rather interesting to watch, especially the musical chairs.^^
2)firstly, the MCs were great. Secondly, the performances were great. Thirdly, i thought the food prepared were awesome. Even though i did not get a chance to eat them, my friends told me they tasted great, especially the S'mores and they looked really nice.
    3) there wasn't really anything that i wasn't satisfied with.
In conclusion, i felt that the campfire was brilliant and definitely worth all our hardwork. I could tell that people from other schools and andersonians really enjoyed the campfire.^^

  13. I enjoy the performance put up by our seniors and the games played during the campfire.

Three things that was good about the campfire
    1. Everyone is well prepared and the campfire went smoothly.
    2. Everyone participate in singing the songs.
    3. We help out at other committees when we finish our work during campfire preparation.

Three things that was bad about the campfire
    1. The campfire is held indoor so we don't have the chance to experience the real fire glowing in the dark.
    2. There are last minute changes made to the sitting arrangements.
    3. I feel that there are not enough people attending the campfire.

Three things that can be improved about the campfire
    1. We can invite more schools to come and join us in the campfire.
    2. We should manage our time well so that campfire will not be pushed back.
    3. ~~~

The campfire is a successful one and our hard work had paid off ~

  14. I love the campfire a lot and it was definitely fun! We have bonded really close and knew each other better. :)
    3 good things:
1)The campfire was really well organized.
2)The MCs did a really great job in hosting.
3)The games were awesome and we got to know a another (GOOD) side of Chloe.
    3 bad things:
1)The R&R committee had to do last minute work and as a result we missed half of the campfire.
2)The campfire was held indoors and I really want to see a real fire but it's okay.
    3)Nothing else. ^^
    3 things to improve:
1)We could have gave out invitations earlier to have more schools attending.
2)We could have did more prep work so that we would not have to do last minute rush.
    3)Nothing more. ^^
Overall, I felt that everyone still did a good job and our campfire was a great success!

  15. 1) I enjoyed the campfire as the performances were very nice and everything was well organized.
    2) The decorations, performance and cheers.
    3) Not enthusiastic enough, the MCs read their lines wrongly and and the campfire was held indoors.
    4) We should improved on our speed to finish what we are suppose to do for the campfire instead of rushing to do all in the last minute,we should also be more enthusiastic and have more rehearsals.

  16. For what I enjoyed about the campfire is that we can watch our seniors perform (even the graduated seniors too!). I can see that they put in a lot and a lot of effort preparing for the dance. (And the aircon too><) I also found out that the graduated seniors are quite friendly too :D Although they gave us strict faces, I still can see that they are friendly on the other side of them:)
3 good things that were good about the campfire:
~All of the people not only bonded with their own school's people but also with other school's when we all started singing 'Thousand legged worm' and some other songs which allow us to move around in the hall.
~The fire was quite creative as the fire committee put pieces of paper on the fan and when it was on, they will start flying up as if they were sparks of flames given out by the fire. The fire ball is TOTALLY AWESOME although it was sort of stuck while it was going down. And all the other decorations were VERY nice. The way of hanging the 'small little board which has the names of the names of the school's scouts/guides' is very creative and beautiful. The big banner hung up at the stage is spectacular. The reception counter is quite 'gliterish' which makes it nice ^^ The 'curtains' hung outside the hall were CREATIVE:*
~And of course the Sec 2s', 3s' and the graduated seniors' performances! The performances lifted up the crowd's enthusiasm.
3 things that were bad about the campfire:
~ I think we skipped some songs.
~ Everybody were rushing to do last minute prep and touch ups which cause us to be released late for lunch. To make sure we come back in time for the campfire, everybody just drank some water and ate some snacks.
~ The surroundings was not 'high' enough. Some of the people did not stand up to join in the 'Thousand legged worm' and some songs that requires people to stand up.
3 things that can be improved about the campfire:
~ We can try to start the prep earlier next time.
~ Try adding more games in or any girl guides songs that requires people to stand up to move around.
~ We can also decorate the hall more a little by hanging strips of paper around.
Overall, the campfire is ENJOYABLE. Everybody also worked hard & tried their best by quickening what they were doing.

  17. I enjoyed the perfomance and atmosphere during the campfire. It was fun with interesting games and decorations. However, there were quite a number of last minute changes and the campfire was held indoors. We should have plan better so that there will be lesser amount of last minute changes.

  18. 1)I enjoyed the dance performances:) The 3 things that were good about the campfire are: how the "fire" was put out, the scouts, guides and brownies were enthusiastic about the campfire and that the campfire was a success(overall)

2)However, the 3 things that was bad about the campfire was that: the food for the guests were prepared only when the campfire had started, the gateway was a little plain( but it was still great:) and fun to walk through) and one of the dance performances' dancers were not very hyper and enthusiastic about the dance.

3)The 3 things that can be improved on the campfire are: Have more games, allow some schools to put up dance/ skit performances and have more humor added into the emcees' talk:D

Polaris 2013 was great!!! :D I hope the next campfire will be as good or even better^^

  19. I enjoyed the perrformances that was put up which was awesome and the games played was interesting, together with the singing.Firstly,I think the whole campfire was great with all of the committee displaying their great work that was done within the last few months.I can see that since the outcome of the work were great and nice.Secondly, the MCs were great since I could see that they do help pump out the campfire atmosphere more.Lastly, the performances were awesome for me,with them dancing their best there.I think there wasn't any bad things about the campfire. The things that can be improved is that, firstly,we could be given abit more time so that we can prepare everything earlier to avoid last minute work on the day itself.Secondly, we should have send out the invitations earlier so that more schools could come for our campfire and thirdly,we should have more games to make the campfire more fun.Overall, the campfire was fun from what i have witnessed and I hope the juniors will learn from our mistakes and may be able to make a better campfire in the future through this experience.

  20. 1) I really enjoyed getting to sing/cheer and the decorations were very pretty. Although it was really tiring, I thoroughly enjoyed it as when we carried stuff/painted we got to know each other better and talk to seniors whom we previously have not talked to at all.
    2) The "fire" was really well-thought out and I enjoyed the performances put up by our seniors and other CCAs. Also, I liked the theme of the campfire which provided lots of ideas for the decorations and the play.
    3) The opening of the doors for the principal, not being able to experience a genuine fire and the campfire was a little bit cramped.
    4) Campfire preparation could have been started earlier so we could start the campfire on the agreed date. Otherwise, nothing else to improve on :D

    ReplyDelete
  21. I enjoyed the atmosphere and the preparation process as it was my first time doing it. Plus I liked the performances put up by both the seniors and the other ccas. The good thing about the campfire is that it was a good bonding experience for everyone as we got to know each other better as we worked together. Even though the fire was fake, it really helped out with the atmosphere. After all, that's what the campfire was all about. Also, I think the decorations were all quite nicely done. I can't really think of any bad things about the campfire but maybe it could have been better planned.(not so much last minute work and last minute changes as to the seating arrangements). Some of the ushers also missed out on the first part of the campfire. The break time could be longer so that all of us could actually have a proper meal. Overall, I think that the campfire was a really memorable experience. Loved it^^

  22. 1) The campfire was truly enjoyable. I enjoyed the performances put up by our very own seniors and the cheers we did as a whole. Also, during the preparation for campfire, we got to spend more time with our seniors and this had helped to strengthen our bond.

    2)
-Firstly, the fire was a huge success, although it was not a real one.
-Next, the performances put up by the seniors were captivating. I could feel that everyone enjoyed their performances. Also, the emcees were well prepared.
    - The decorations around the hall were well done and the souvenirs were nicely done.

    3)
–The atmosphere was not that lively as some people did not know how to sing the songs and were unable to sing along.
    -Nothing else.

    4) – We should have started on the campfire preparation earlier as it was a bit rushed to the end when it was nearing the day of the campfire.
    - Have more people to sing along
    - The level of enthusiasm
    Overall, I enjoyed the campfire!

    ReplyDelete
  23. 1) I enjoyed the campfire performances by the graduated seniors, sec 2s and st.johns. I think they really put in effort to practice the dance, especially the st.johns members because their performance was a great success. I also enjoyed the cheers made by the other schools and Anderson.

    2) 3 good things about the campfire is that the MCs are able to make the schools enthusiastic in singing the songs, the fire was creative, although it was not a real fire. Another good thing was that the schools and the Andersonians enjoyed themselves very much. Some andersonians said that it was fun although they did not know many of the guides songs.

    3) 3 bad things about the campfire is that the duration was a little too short and started too early. Time was running short and we had to skip 3 songs in the end. We also do not have enough time for the schools receiving the awards to shout out their cheer.

    4) 3 things that can be improved is that the quality and creativity of the souvenirs can be improved, because it looked a little fragile, allow some schools to put up performances so that the audience would be high. The refreshments can also be improved by having more varieties.

  24. I really enjoyed the performance and the hypeness during the campfire. :D I think campfire is good as first it teach us on how to get together and learn teamwork. maybe we are still unfamiliar with each other and this is the chance to get to know each other more. We also get to gain experience and we can use that experience on the future campfires :D Actually i think there nothing bad about campfire as it should be a happy thing! but maybe during the process we get too stressed up between studies and cca and fight for precious time but i still thinks that its nothing really bad about campfire. To improve? maybe we speed up a little more so its not so rush as i realised that the break wasnt really enough. Maybe not last minute changes as maybe it might cause some confusion to others? Actually i still think the campfire was good ;)

  25. I enjoyed the atmosphere at the campfire and I was glad that most of the people that came enjoyed their time there. The performances were also awesome and it was an interesting experience. I really look forward to the next A*Guides campfire!
    2) 3 things that was good about campfire
    - The decorations of the hall was very nice and creative
    - The performance was very nice and i really enjoyed them
    - The backdrop really stood out in the dark
    3) 3 things that was bad about campfire
    - The structures were not as well done and the poles to hold the structures were not tied tightly enough
    - The MCs did not sound lively enough and at times sounded rude
    - The campfire was still very messy despite rehearsals
    4) 3 things that can be improved about campfire.
    - More rehearsals could have take place as it was still quite messy
    - More schools should have been invited as the Andersonians that came do not know our songs well and therefore does not feel like a girl guide campfire
    - We should have tried earlier for the fire as it almost did not succeed although i like the creative idea
In conclusion, i am really grateful of everyone that helped one way or another to make the campfire a successful one (:

  26. 1) I enjoyed myself by just looking at the people present there being hyper and enjoying our campfire, as it shows that our efforts have paid off. In addition, I also enjoyed the performances, singing sessions and games that we had during campfire, as the performances were very amazing and everyone had fun singing along with the wonderful emcees.
    2) i) we managed to 'solve' the 'emergency' problems before the campfire started and made it a successful one
ii) everyone was in high spirits and participated enthusiastically in the singing sessions and the games.
iii) all the guides were willing to help out when help is needed which is a good thing
    3) i) it was delayed and although after skipping some songs, we still ended later than expected
ii) sadly, not many people came
iii) despite having the lyrics of the songs on the screen, most of the other UGs were unsure of how to sing(especially songs that are a little more related to Guides and not campfires) and could not really join in our sing along sessions
    4) i) we can be more efficient
ii) we could have placed in more effort
iii) we should have given extra time space for the time plan during campfire in case of any delays.

  27. I TOTALLY LOVED THE CAMPFIRE! It was really successful although not the best and many improvements could be made. Nevertheless, our hard work and efforts paid off tremendously well and it felt awesome knowing that people enjoyed the campfire! (: The atmosphere was quite as everyone was pretty enthusiastic and all the decorations and stuff were done up nicely. I could feel the 'Polaris feel' throughout!

    1) - I really like all the little things on even the smallest items that showed our theme, Polaris. The reception table was done up nicely with stars, the silvered coloured garments, and even all the little stars hung around the place brought out distinctly our theme. I could feel the atmosphere as we really immersed ourself into the campfire.
    - I really enjoyed the performances and games! The dances were great and SJAB's dance was really splendid as well even though it was slotted in last minute. The games were really fun and the tension could be felt as we awaited for the winner.
    - I enjoyed the creativity of the fire. I totally went 'WOAH' when the fire ball came down and switched on the fan. The fake flames were beautified with the glittery stuffs (I forgot what is it called) and that moment was just really astounding.

    2) - There weren't many schools that actually turned up. Many were Andersonians who are foreign to Guides songs and stuffs so it was a little awkward for them.
    - There could have been more games! It would be more enjoyable (:
    - We could have started preparation earlier so we did not have to be so rushed on that week itself.

    3) - Start preparation earlier and assign work more neatly.
    - Plan out the time more wisely so we don't have to skip songs like we did this time!
    - I don't know, invite more schools?

    IN CONCLUSION IT WAS AWESOMEEEEEEE.

  28. I really enjoyed our campfire as it was quite a success and the Andersonians really enjoyed it and I am glad as this was a Guide campfire and I was worried that the Andersonians may not enjoy it as much. Luckily, the Andersonians did enjoyed it a lot. And the best thing is, the scouts and guides also enjoyed it so EVERYONE enjoyed it:D
I feel that the gateway was fantastic and so was the decorations! They were really beautiful and lovely, and I also felt that this campfire bonded the uniformed groups a lot and also bonded us Guides as a whole. This is really a good thing. It also showed the sec 1s how fun campfires are, especially when they were prepared with your own sweat, blood and tears so I hope that two years later. they will be able to prepare their own campfire and let the memories of this campfire spur them on.
The bad things about the campfire is that we skipped some songs and songs like "Thousand legged worm", "New Friend Found", etc, which required us to stand up and dance and moved around were too fast and they should have been repeated. Also, we could have been more effcient as we did not really start the preparation of the campfire early and even when we did, it wasn't really with much seriousness and sense of urgency. Also, not many schools came for our campfire this time.
Things that could have been improved are things like perjhaps the emcees' script could have been reviewed by the rest of the Guides at first so that we can provide feedback on how to improve it. And we could have also planned our timing more effciently.

  29. Hi Everyone! Before I start my reflection,I read through all of the reflections done so far and I would like to apologize for not leading the preparations for campfire better. I know that I am capable of doing better hence, I'm sorry for not being competent enough for the job. I would also like to thank everyone for all the effort, time and energy that you have exhausted to make this campfire a success! I know that some of you gave up your relaxation time to do campfire preparations and I sincerely appreciate it. I also know that some of you did not have sufficient food before the campfire started and I am very disappointed ! WHY DIDNT YOU EAT !!!!!! All in all, although the campfire could have been better, we have given our best and we should not regret anymore.

One thing I enjoyed about Campfire was the fact that people regretted not going. It sort of meant that the campfire was so enjoyable that people who did come enjoyed tremendously and those who didn't wished they had went. When the campfire was over, my Twitter Homepage was filled with tweets about campfire mostly because I was hash-tagging "#AGuidesCampfire" but also because Andersonians who went kept tweeting about how much fun they had had. This gave me a sense of satisfaction and although I was horribly tired I just could not wipe the dopey smile of my face the whole night.

3 good things- for this part many of you said that the fire and performances were good. Personally, I agree with this because I too felt a thrill rush up(or is it down) my spine as the fireball made its way haltingly down towards the fan. Although I must admit the fact it got stuck ruined the atmosphere a bit, the idea was good and I'd like to thank the fire committee for coming up with such a creative idea. As for the performances, I was very very very proud of my fellow Sec 3s who performed, because although they were not a 100% confident about the steps, they gave their best and entertained the audience. I know how much effort they've put in for all the practices despite having to also do campfire preparations and hence I am very proud of them. The performances done by our seniors and SJAB was very good and to put it simply or colloquially, full of SWAG.Personally though I liked the Sec 2s performance best because although it looked simple, they must have worked very hard to perfect the moves and meet up to dance together as I'm very sure that they too had very busy schedules. Therefore I would like to thank all the Sec3s and Sec2s for their hard work!
Other than that, what I felt was good was the backdrop, decorations, structure, the food, souvenir and gateway. Although backdrop was somewhat the last committee to complete their work, the final product made up for all the time. From before I had already liked their design but seeing how it sparkled in the dark was very pretty. Actually the I/C of Backdrop Agnes, told me that she was a but sad that the backdrop was constantly blocked by the screen and at this I felt bad. It was a situation that was unavoidable but I did feel bad that the very pretty backdrop wasn't seen much !
To me, the most efficient committee was the Deco committee as they were almost done even before the June holidays started. I'd like to credit them for that! To be continued >>>

  30. I enjoyed singing all the various songs.
3 good things about the campfire:
The fire was good, the performances were nice and interesting, it did not make the audience feel bored. The decorations in the hall was nice and i think that it suited the 'polaris' theme well.
3 bad things about the campfire:
I think that time was not managed very well because we did not manage to sing some of the songs like silvery moon and moonlight bay.
We should have went school earlier that day so that we can have more preparation time.
Some people did not know how to sing the songs.
One thing that can be improved :
We should have started preparation work earlier.

  31. During the campfire ,i enjoyed watching the dance performance most . The performance were very fun and i really enjoy it . I have my duty for refreshments so i didn't stay in hall for the whole performance . From what i've see , the games are also really awesome .
For the campfire , i feel that we could manage our time better . Also , the time that we could practice for the dance is quite short (the boys dance) as we changed like a few different song when we have already start a bit on them .
Overall i feel that the campfire is fun and awesome ! :)

  32. I enjoyed the whole atmosphere throughout the campfire in the hall. As I was reception, I joined the campfire quite late and when I entered, I could feel the happy and upbeat atmosphere. It was really nice and I got into the singing and cheering mood reaaal quick.

What was good about the campfire was the decorations, I really liked the decorations outside the hall and the inside was pretty too. I also liked the souvenirs (good job souvenir committee!) and the 'telescope' to put the programme booklets. Overall I think, all that was made and put up for the campfire was nice and well done by everyone.

I feel that the time plan for the campfire was not good, we had to skip some of the songs in order to end the campfire on time. Next time, better time management and planning :) Also, sometimes the emcees would be singing by themselves, only very few people are singing along and it felt like a 'concert' to some people. So I think that the emcees for the next events should encourage the audience to sing along, occasionally ask different groups to cheer, so that there is more participation from the audience.

I really loved the campfire and had fun!!

  33. I really enjoyed the high atmosphere of the campfire. The good things of the campfire are that the backdrop is very outstanding as it has glitter over it which looks as if there were stars twinkling in space. The games, such as thousand legged worm and musical chairs were fun and the performances were great! The idea for the lighting and extinguishing the fire was very creative and so are the decorations. The bad things of the campfire are that there were too little guides and the campfire consisted mostly of andersonians and scouts. Also we did not have enough time to sing moonlight bay and silvery moon. The souvenirs are also a bit plain, such as the best performance award, and are not of high quality, such as the souvenir for the VIP as the toothpicks fall off easily and still tends to prick people. I think the campfire could be improved by inviting more schools earlier before the June holidays, also we could move the backdrop to somewhere else as the screen was blocking it most of the time. Lastly, the break time could be extended as some guides did not managed to eat a proper meal.
    Overall the campfire was fun.

  34. I like the part where the guides perform. I really like the theme of Polaris as I think that Polaris is a very cool theme. I also like the singing part as we can enjoy ourselves. One more thing I like about the campfire is the games as it is very funny and entertaining to see the people play the games. I don't really like the durations of the Campfire. I think that the campfire should be longer. There should also be more games as there were only like one or two games in the campfire. All in all, I really enjoyed the campfire.

  35. 1)The campfire was pretty fun and I really enjoyed the performances put up by all of us and the seniors and sjab! :D Although the preparation was tiring, all of us got through it together so the campfire is more meaningful as we bonded quite a lot. One of the most memorable ones are dancing in the toilet and dancing non-stop with the music on continuous replays.
2)The fire is really unique its like the first manmade indoor fire. The idea is really creative and I think Aguides are the first to have this cool indoor fire! The backdrop is very pretty I like how it glitters in the dark just like stars. The decorations in the hall is very pretty and the souvenirs as well and the refreshments looks delicious! Sadly I didn't see gateway!
3)I think the time for the campfire is a little too short so it ends up a bit rush and we have to skip a lot of good parts. Although Andersonians were high, scouts and guides from other schools didn't seem to enjoy it that much so I wish I was more high and less awkward.. It's abit awkward for Andersonians when we were singing the guiding songs as they did not know some of the songs.
4)I should be more prepared for last minute changes and not panic so much. I also have to be more attentive to the surroundings especially during games. For the backdrop we could have decorated the background earlier as it looks abit plain at the top.
Overall, the campfire was a good memory and I have learnt a lot from it!
(p.s thankyou for singing the birthday song for me at the end of the campfire I swear it was the coolest one in my 15 years of life. n u jl.) :)

  36. What I enjoyed was the dance performance by my seniors, their dance where amazing so as the sjab performance too:)
3 things that were good about the campfire was that everything went smoothly and the coolest part was the fire it was unique it looks like it was a out-door campfire and also every decoration were nicely put up. Well on the other hand 3 bad things was that time started too early and the gateway's glow in the dark star did not glow as 5.30pm was still too bright and we ended like in a rush and missed some great parts like more song and games. 3 things that can be improved are the timings of the campfire, adding in more decoration and also the "string" connected to the fire is a little dangerous. But Overall it was a fun and enjoyable campfire.

  37. I enjoyed the atmosphere in the campfire as everyone was so enthusiastic, cheering and singing. It was also fun as we bond around through songs like thousand legged worm. The performance was also fantastic as we had fun dancing together.
The campfire went smoothly, the decorations and backdrop and the fire were unique and nice. All the committees efforts were worth it. It was an amazing first experience to the campfire.
I find the duration of the campfire rather short. As others were enjoying the songs such as thousand legged worm, I wish that we can sing again if we have time. The campfire was also delayed due to the late preparation process.
Games rules can be set clearly as many were violating it during the game itself by holding onto the chair. We should have added more decorations to the backdrop so that it will look more attractive. I can also be more efficient to ensure the things go as planned.Overall, the campfire was an enjoyable and memorable experience

  38. I enjoyed the dance performances. They were AMAZING dancers!
The fire was "coool" during the opening of the campfire. The performances put up were fantastic and the backdrop was nice and very sparkly.:)
However, I think the organizing and last minute ushers were very unorganized and rushed. At times, there were too many idle Sec 1 guides at the entrance with nothing to do and at other times, there were no ushers at all. During the songs with actions and gathering around, many other people were not involved. Many of the songs were rushed or skipped.
We could have started the preparation time earlier. The emcees and us guides could have encouraged others to join in with action songs. Guides should be assigned beforehand instead of everyone being one minute ushers, then helping in the kitchen and suddenly being ushers again. Certain number of people should be assigned to ushering and a certain to help in the hall, kitchen etc. etc.
