  1. Through this camp, I have learnt that team work is very important. Working together as a team helps to do more stuff and make the time enjoyable. Also, I have learnt to appreciate every little thing around me, and to not take things for granted. I learnt a lot of survival and life skills that will be useful in my life.
I think that I should be more aware of my surroundings, and take the initiative to help people. Also, I think that one thing I can improve on is my efficiency. I should be doing things fast enough in order to reach the time limit given, and not always push back the timings.
My favorite moment in camp was the games and amazing race. Through those, I became closer to my patrol mates as we had time to bond with each other. Also, I learnt lots of new things about Guiding that I did not know during the amazing race. It helped us build on our teamwork.

  2. During this training camp, I have learnt to render help to others more proactively, and helping out whenever I can, and last but not least to work together as a team, as well as be prepared for any activity.
However, I think I can improve on my sense of urgency. As a senior, I know that I should be more urgent in completing my tasks and in doing things. Thus I think I need to improve on that aspect. Also, my awareness of my surroundings, and that I can help more of my juniors in things they are unsure of.
Lastly, my favourite moment in camp was the outdoor cooking. Although we tried to start a fire, the wind was too strong for us to do so but eventually we managed to do so. Preparing the food was quite fun and eating the end product was even more so! :]

  3. I learnt to be more aware of my surroundings including the people and things around me. I also had experiences that we will not experience usually like outdoor cooking and sleeping in a tent. I also feel that we should appreciate the things we have such as a proper shelter to live under. I also felt the urgency to get things done on time. Also, with co-operation and team spirit, things can be done faster and better.
The things I want to improve on is having things done more efficiently and being more aware of things around me. Also, i want to take more initiative.
I like the campfire most as we had the chance to sing as a company and along with the seniors and it was fun. It was an opportunity for us to bond together and see the others perform.

  4. I learnt from this camp that teamwork and initiative is very important. Teamwork,if someone in the group does not want to cooperate, the games that we play,we will always loose and building the gadgets need teamwork to be able to finish the task within the expected time. Initiative, there must always be someone who takes the initiative. It is an
introductory act or step that not many people would do. Therefore in this camp,i learnt that teamwork and initiative is very important.

As initiative is important,i think that i can improve on taking initiative and being able to complete a task within a given time.

My favourite moment in camp is during the amazing race. It is a time where i feel bonded with my group and i learn more about guiding through this games.

  5. I learnt to appreciate things that I have been taking for granted. I also learnt how important team spirit is as we make the experience enjoyable and meaningful. We cheer and take care of each other and together we are efficient as we individually complete the tasks given. I am clearer of what to do during gadget making and tent pitching. Next, I realised the importance of initiative as we help others who are behind time and complete all the tasks given as a company. Lastly, with sense of urgency we are able to complete the tasks quickly so we have more time to play fun games.

I should be more prepared for the camp, bringing all the things needed and acquire the skills needed. Also, I should have practised more for the campfire item to make it perfect.

My favourite moment was the Manito Corner. As the suspense of not knowing who it is makes me look forward to the know more about the person. Also, it helps the bonding between guides as we might not know our manitos well. The camp is truly an enjoyable and memorable experience for me.

  6. For this year's ATC, I was finally a senior! For the camp, I supervised the juniors, was in charge for the Individual Games along with Claire and was a station master for Wide/FA Games. During the camp, we did many things like outdoor cooking, tent-pitching and having a campfire (indoors, but it was still great!). I learnt that a sense of urgency is very important to get things going in Training Camp, especially with such a tight schedule. This year, we had to make many amendments to the schedule as the entire company was not fast-paced enough. I also learnt that teamwork is very essential, as many things like tent-pitching and outdoor cooking simply cannot be done by one or two guides.

I can improve on many things. I naturally do not like to do dirty work, so although I was not required to clean any toilets, I can change my mindset for future camps. It is important not to be selfish! I can also improve on my patience, as sometimes I got impatient with my peers and juniors when things do not go as planned.

My favourite moment in camp is breakfast. The whole experience - sitting in a meal ring on the grass, eating as a patrol, singing grace and passing the food/drinks around is oddly heartwarming and captures the qualities of Guides well. We must be thankful (by saying Grace), be considerate (passing food/drinks around), be selfless (helping to finish all the food although you are full) and not be wasteful (don't waste food. It is a memory I will hold dear to my heart! (:

  7. During the camp, I have learnt to take more initiative to help others, and that teamwork is extremely important to complete tasks on time. Also, I have learnt to appreciate what I have at home and not to take it for granted.

I can improve on my sense of urgency and not take my own time to complete a task. As I am a senior in this camp, I also have to set a good example, for example running to a place instead of walking slowly. Lastly, I have to be more observative towards my surroundings and help my juniors when they need help.

My favorite moment was the campfire. We got to sing guides' songs together as well as watch other groups perform. It was fun and interesting.

  8. During camp, i learnt many new things that is related to life and that teamwortk is very important. Without teamwork, we will not be able to complete our task on time, and that everything will be delayed. I also learnt to split the job evenly when pitching the tent, making the gadgets, outdoor cooking and many others so that not everybody is doing a specific task and neglecting the others which are equally important. I also learnt to lead my juniors during the various activities. I also learnt to be more initiative in helping not only my patrol members, but also the other patrols. Lastly, i learnt to be more independet and brave.

I think i can be more efficient in whatever things i do so that i can complete the task in the time given and not delay anything. I can be more aware of my surroundings and be considerate to see if the others need help.

My favourite moment in camp was the campfire and the night game. The campfire allows us to bond, sing songs and forget all the tiredness and stress. The night game allows me to be more courageous the next time when there is a night game. Along with my partner, Qiaoyuan, we managed to walk through the night game althought we were very scared. This night walk allows me to experience how it feels like in a 'haunted house' and when i have the chance to go to a real 'haunted house' i will be more daring to go in.

  9. From this training camp, I have learnt to work well with my patrol members and that teamwork was really
important in order for us to complete our tasks. I have also learnt to take the initiative to help
others when they are in need of our help. That way, we can complete the tasks given much more quickly.

I think something that I can improve on is my speed. I did things quite slowly at the camp, and I did not
really take note of the time. I feel that in the future, I can work on doing things more quickly and not
    doing things very slowly.

My favourite moments were the outdoor cooking and the games that we played. The games required our patrol
members to have team spirit and co-operate with one another. It also required us to do things quickly as there
was a time limit. Hence, that made it fun. Also, even though the outdoor cooking was really tiring, we got to
eat the food that we cooked ourselves!

Overall, I feel that the training camp this year was a really enjoyable experience, as it allowed us to bond
well with our patrol members. Also, the camp this year was in Camp Cristine, whereas last year's was in
the school. Hence there was more 'atmosphere'.

  10. I learnt to be more appreciative of what i have because there were many things I was not able to do during the camp. For example, I had to sleep in a tent, eat food that I do not really like without complaining and endure not seeing my family members for 2 days. I also experienced how hard it was to lead a group as different people have different opinions and there are times when the patrol members disagree with one another.
I think something that can be improved is my attitude. I should take more initiative and be more active.
My favourite moment was when the seniors announced that we were allowed to sleep indoors that night. I was so thankful as the ground was muddy and wet.
Overall, I felt that the camp had made me more matured and appreciative of what i have even though it was tough.

  11. In this camp, I have learnt many survival skills such as pitching tents & outdoor cooking as well as teamwork and cooperation. Without all these, the camp would not be as successful and would just be another boring camp. I have also leant to be more appreciative since camp conditions were almost totally different from my comfort zone at home.
I hope to improve on my sense of urgency and attitude. During the camp, I took my own sweet time to complete my tasks. I hope to be more positive in the next training camp.
My favorite moments were the outdoor cooking and the games. Outdoor cooking because of the sense of accomplishment whenever I saw the fire burning and the delicious food. The games because it was fun.
Overall I feel that the camp this year is an enjoyable one as we bond with our friends and take on new things together.

  12. I learnt to appreciate the things that i took for granted before, survival skills and that teamwork is important.
I would like to improve on my sense of urgency, have a more positive attitude and have more initiative during the next training camp.
My favorite moments in the camp was the preparations for the outdoor cooking since i like to cook. The campfire and the games, because they were fun. My favorite game is the night game, though it would be better if it is scarier.

  13. For me, annual training camp 2013 means more than the mere 3D2N at Camp Christine. The preparation started way ahead in Aug 2012. The Sec 3/4's of 2012 put in their best so that our juniors could have a beneficial training camp.
Throughout the whole training camp, I was heartened to see improvements in my Guides, and I watched them progress in these 3 days.
I observed teamwork, happiness and the will to do their best amongst the Guides. I saw girls caring for their sister Guides, and also observed encouragement and team spirit, which made me very pleased.
From this camp, I also learnt that time management is very important, and that if I allow the time to drag on, everyone else will also follow my lead, and think that it is okay to keep dragging beyond the time allocated.
Besides that, I feel that I can have a stronger stand and be more determined in what I do and what I want to achieve. Even when things weren't looking bright, I should have been more resilient and fight through the obstacles faced, instead of being cowardly. I can also be more proactive and be more intelligent in solving the problems that I face.
My favourite moment in camp would be during campfire, as I got to enjoy a lot of Guiding songs, and watch every patrol perform. Even though we held the campfire indoors due to the wet weather, the rain did not dampen our moods! We had fun and sang songs, together as a company.
During the campfire, I had this moment where I really appreciated the fact that A* Guides are so closely related and that we are a family of sisters in Guiding. It was during Peace like a river. The Olave Hall echoed with sounds of our singing, and when we sang, I felt connected with everyone. Everyone knew how to sing the song, knew the
actions, and we did the last part (peace like a river joy overflowing love ever lasting) successfully!! It is moments like these that remind me that despite all the hard work I put into planning activities for my Guides, it's worth it, as I see my girls growing, learning, and benefitting from this camp.
There was laughter, there were tears. There were good moments, there were bad moments. But it's all worth it. At the end of the day, I'm glad I chose Girl Guides as my CCA back in sec 1, because I got to know so many girls that I can call my sisters. It's a small world after all.
    Yours in Guiding,

  14. During Annual Training Camp 2013, I was a senior and there were many responsibilities. We had to be more stern and keep up to the schedule. Aik Xin and I were the QMs and and it was very difficult to cook for the whole company on time. I learnt how to work under pressure and time constraint and how to manage myself better. I also learnt that balancing time and the manpower provided were essential.

My favourite moments were the outdoor cooking and campfire. During outdoor cooking, we spent a lot of time and effort to get the fire started and cook the food, but the end result was satisfying. The seniors' patrol got to eat a lot of delicious food and it was very fun. I had a lot of fun during the campfire as we got to sing many guides songs and it was enjoyable to watch all the performances and cheers by the different patrols.

Overall, I learnt that I need to take more imitative and be more wary of my surroundings. I also learnt a lot about teamwork and time management. I enjoyed the camp and learnt a lot, and it was fun to spend time with all the guides as a company.

  15. From this camp i learnt how to manage my time well . Teamwork makes us bond closer and also teaches us on helping others . Managing time well is important . In training camp , i feel that the time given is very limited . As a time keeper , i should carry out my responsibility and manage my time well .
I feel that i need to improve on my time keeping and also when we are managing the fire during outdoor cooking . Also , i want to improve on my sense of urgency and have more initiative .
My favorite part of the camp is when we are playing our games . It make us bond together and be more closer . At the same time , i enjoy the campfire too . I enjoy the atmosphere where all of us sing the song together and watch other groups perform .
Overall , i feel that this camp is very meaningful. It teaches me a lot of life skills and also this camp makes me become closer with the other guides and juniors .

  16. PS. I'm very grateful that training camp was from 11-13 Jan and not during this very rainy and cold weekend!

  17. I learnt to have a sense of urgency in everything I do and take awareness of my surroundings. In this camp, I've became closer with my fellow guides friends.Cooperating with our team members is also very important As it will enable us to complete our task on time.I've also learn some survival skills that may be useful in the future.
I enjoyed the outdoor cooking the most, although our chicken was not thoroughly cooked.I think that maybe collecting more punks and twigs will help to keep the fire burning longer so as to cook the chicken.

  18. For this year's training camp, i am the patrol leader for patrol 2. Therefore, i had totally different view of training from the last year's. Of course, I have a lot from it as well.

During the camp, I was in very tense up mood because I am a patrol leader. I not only need to make sure what I did was right but also need make sure that my patrol members were also doing the right thing. Being a patrol leader, I have learnt how to lead better and organize my members. Also, I have learnt more about time management.

The part that I think I need to improve on is be more alert. Personally, I tend to concentrate on doing one thing that I will neglect the other things around me. Therefore, I think I need to spare some of my attention to look out for other things or people during I am doing a thing. This is important when I am in a training camp because there are many things that I need to look out for.

My favorite part of the training camp is the campfire where I did a lot of singing. This actually makes me not so tense up. The whole campfire is really enjoyable and fun compared to the others parts of the camp. i love the atmosphere then!

  19. I have truly learnt a lot from this camp, till I probably can't put all my emotions and thoughts on this camp into words. I felt that this camp really helped me to become more mature and self-discipline and with the correct mindset, it's really enjoyable. I'm really thankful to all the seniors for leading us and being good role models on how we should help our juniors in the future, and my patrol members for lending me a helping hand whenever I encounter difficulties. Firstly, I learnt that things should not be taken for granted. During Training Camp, it's important to learn to adapt to the environment as the fascilities there are barely the standard of our normal lifestyle that we are used to. I felt that I have toughen up a whole lot more and I'm really glad about that. Secondly, cooperation is extremely important as well. We have to cooperate and be there for one another in order to make things happen. Also, it's important to work well with your patrol members in order to have a good time in camp. Thirdly, I have also acquired many life skills that I can learn nowhere else. Moreover, I have grown more closer with my fellow guides and hold an even stronger bond with them. All the activities are great memories that I will remember and I can say that I look forward to ATC 2013.

There were unhappy moments during the camp though, and an example would be the wet weather on the second night. Also, I felt that the toughest part of the camp is outdoor cooking and striking the tent, as for the former, we have to learn to persevere as the fire died time and time again and we have to run back and forth from Pax Lodge back to the outdoor cooking area to bring all the newspapers, cutleries and etc, which was really time-consuming and tiring, and as for striking the tent, it was really tough as it was tiring and difficult to clear and clean all the stuffs in limited time.

I feel that I could improve on my stamina as I got tired easily, my self-discipline as it's extremely essential, and my temper as I get cranky and annoyed easily after a tiring day.

My favourite moment in camp would be the campfire, despite the fact that the rain ruined the chances of having a real campfire, the ambience in Olave Hall was great as we bonded together and have fun, sang along to songs and laughed and enjoyed ourselves.

  20. We did many things during the camp. This includes tent pitching, games, outdoor cooking and training. And through these activities, I learnt the importance of teamwork and co-operation. Without teamwork or co-operation, things wouldn't be done fast or even be completed. I also learnt about independence as I had to get up on time, pack my own bag and even cook.
I felt that I could have more initiative. I would like to be more proactive and volunteer to do a task without being asked.
My favourite part about the camp would be the night walk and the amazing race. They were really fun and our patrol got to bond while learning new things.

  21. Through this camp, I got to experience a lot of things not everyone will get to experience or do. Such of the things are like outdoor cooking and having breakfast together as a whole company in the meal ring. I have also bonded really well with my fellow guides and got to know them better. As this is my first training camp, I thought the camp would not be fun and everything will just suck but I realised that as long as we have the positive mindset, everything will be fun and awesome not like the way I expected it to be. I have learnt that teamwork is very important. Without teamwork and cooperation from each other, a task like pitching a tent which could have been completed in 1h 30 mins would take as long as 3 hours, hence delaying a lot of other fun games and activities. Without cooperation from each other and not giving in to each other, we will not have an enjoyable time through the camp. Although this is the sec 2s first training camp, we should not use this as an excuse to let the sec 3s do all the work as it is totally unfair to them. I have also learnt that initiative is important too. If no one dare to take the first step, then nothing would be completed and everyone would just sit there and wait till someone takes the first step, hence wasting a lot of time. I have also learnt to appreciate the little things in my life such as having a proper place to sleep in and proper food to eat.
I think I can improve on having the initiative and not taking my own sweet time walking from one place to another instead of running. I also think that I should be more helpful and lend a helping hand to others who needs help. I should also learn not to waste food and finish all the food in my plate.
My favourite part in the camp is the outdoor cooking. Although it was difficult trying to keep the fire 'alive', but overall it was quite a nice experience especially when we get to cook food outside!

  22. In the Annual Training Camp 2013, I have learnt a lot of things and gained a lot of experiences. I'm glad that I went for this camp. I became more thankful for what I have now.

In the camp, I did things that I did not think I would ever do like sleeping in a tent with insects everywhere and unclogging sinks.

I learnt to have more initiative and not be so selfish. I started to be more caring towards others and refrain from wasting food.

I think I could've been more enthusiastic and more helpful towards others. I also could've been faster at doing things and have more sense of urgency.

My favourite moment in the camp was the outdoor cooking as I like cooking. I had fun preparing the pizza and the other dishes even though I had to rush.

  23. Annual training camp 2013 was an enriching experience for me where I learnt a lot about myself and the others. It was a long journey of preparations and hard work by all of us. Although there is a lot to improve I hope everyone has learnt something from this camp.

I have learnt that sense of urgency is very important as it ensures that everything runs according to schedule. I believe punctuality is something that everyone has to work on. Teamwork is also highly important as everyone has to play their part.

I think I have lots of areas to improve on to play my part well. Firstly, there should be a great sense of urgency within me. Secondly, I feel that instructions should be given out more clearly and firmly. Thirdly tasks could have been assigned well and I could have been more prepared at all times.

To me, the best part of Camp was campfire where every one of us where involved in the songs and cheers. Although we couldn’t have an outdoor campfire, I believe the atmosphere was still “high” (don’t know if this makes sense) It was the time that everyone was giving their all, shouting and screaming which sometimes made me laugh but really felt like I had the guiding spirit.

There are many more things that happened in camp which I feel but can’t express, and so sorry for this long comment if it is long, but overall I had learnt a lot from this camp and hope everyone else have too.

  24. Training camp this year was more exciting and different as it is held in camp christine this year~ I can actually experience the real camp ''feeling'' as it is held in a deserted place and the facilities are not as advanced as our school's. It's a total new feeling for me. I find outdoor cooking very interesting as the fire was set in a mud hole instead of bricks and it is a whole new experience for me. We did lots of things that we dont normally do in our guides session like sitting in a meal ring eating together, sleeping together, nightwalk and many more! Before this camp, I am not close with any juniors but after this training camp, ive bonded alot with my patrol juniors, and also guides my age and seniors! I've learnt alot to be independent and also to be more helpful to others as during training camp, you only have your patrol members to rely on one another. I also learnt to have a sense of responsibility and learnt that one for all, all for one. I've also become braver as I even bathed in the same toilet as a frog (i wont even get near to a frog other times) and more knowledgable as I learnt lots of things like moral values and guides stuffs these 3 days. Although ive improved a little on my sense of urgency, I would like to work more on it as sometimes I still find myself walking to one place to another. And also to be more alert as sometimes I can be quite blur. My favourite moment was actually the moment me and my patrol members were together pitching the tent and sleeping in the same tent. It is a very cool experience and although we are working, we joke along and try to liven up the atmosphere by encouraging one another and caring for one another and taking over a job to let the other rest(and asking us to drink water or check if we are tired). From these I can see our teamwork as a group in finishing our tent. While sleeping in the same tent, although it's hot and humid, we still chatted and joke along and therefore slowly fell asleep. We also asked around to see if anybody wants insect repellent. In overall, this camp is a unique experience for me and sure a memorable one! :)

  25. During the camp, I did a lot of things I never thought I would have done. One of them is to clean a chicken with its head and legs still on and take out its insides as well as marinate it (so squishy..). When I first heard that I would be the QM, I was really angry because I hated cooking and I certainly did not want to cook (or even touch) a raw whole piece of chicken. But I managed to do it! I'm also quite proud of myself because I helped out other patrols in their duties and I think I did my duty with quality work. Even though I dislike watermelons and bananas, I still ate them and learnt that I shouldn't waste any food. I'm quite glad that I managed to finish all my food and even ask for seconds!

I hope that I can be less blur and confused and be more outgoing.I have to really listens to instructions closely and have an idea of what is going on so I won't be so confused and start asking people what to do etc. I also want to apologize for my phobia of insects so I couldn't wipe the table filled with ants.. (sorry to those I asked for help!)

My favourite part of the camp was the campfire where everyone was seated together and we performed and sang songs. Even though it was raining and we had to do an indoor campfire, I did not mind as long as we were all together. I really enjoyed performing and i'm glad I could pull it off even though I learnt it quite last minute. The other patrol's performance were awesome as well.

Overall, I had lots of fun yay!

  26. This year annual camp training 2013 held at camp christine. During the camp I experience being a senior and doing more work. Though we didnt manage to keep everything on time, i still think that i can improve my time management especially on the first day as i was not prepared enough. Since this year amira and i were QMs, i actually tried my best to practice cooking at home so i will be prepared during camp, but i didnt expect it to be so hard as this time we will be serving over 40 people. I even spent my night before camp to make a book of different part of proposal that i have to do during camp instead of bringing the whole proposal which was sooooooo heavy ><

What i enjoyed most is during mealtime, including outdoor cooking, as it is the time where we paid off their hardwork after a long day and eating food will give us back our energy to continue with the rest of the day. I really loved the food that we cook though i didn't really cook much >< but it was still delicious ^^ For the outdoor cooking, Melissa and i and the seniors helped the QMs to do the inside of the chicken and marinate them. WHen they started marinating, i could smell the nice scent of creation that they made :P

I also enjoyed the campfire that day but i was still sad as during my whole ATC, i never experienced outdoor campfire :( But still, i love singing around the campfire and watching the others perform ^^ I really hope that when i graduated, i want to come back to atc ^^

The funniest part was that this year i didnt get any mosquitoes bite (1 or 2 only) for the 3 days even though i did not put any repellent. I was really surprised as everytime when i went to camp i would put the insect repellent patch but they still come at me ><

Though this is my third year in anderson training camp, this is the only year where i learnt the most unlike my previous year. I learnt how to react fast especially when we are rushing against time >< i also learnt that when i have nothing to do and others need help, i will take the initiative to help them ^^

Though i learnt more things, i still have many areas to improve and i really wished that i can improve during the guides session ^^

  27. During the camp, I have learnt to take more initiative and help others as much as I can. Also, I realised that teamwork was a key component in completing all the given tasks on time. Furthermore, I have learnt to appreciated all the things in my life, such as a home and basic utilities, and not take them for granted.

However, I should improve on my sense of urgency in order to be able to carry out all the activities prepared within the given time frame. In addition, I should have paid more attention to my surroundings so as to be able to be more efficient in doing work.

Finally, my favourite moment in camp was the campfire!! I really enjoyed the other patrols' performances and cheers. Also, it was fun to just relax and sing along to the guides' songs!

  28. I went to camp feeling extremely nervous as I thought that it would be a disaster. However, it wasn't all bad. We had fun activities like games similar to the Amazing Race and were also able to bond as a patrol and as a Company. I was the First Aid mistress for my patrol, so I did my best to read up on the different bandages the night before. I think I should improve on my sense of urgency and also my ability to help my juniors. I guess my favourite moments in camp would be mealtimes. I found it great that each and every one of us were sharing a "table" and I felt that it increased the bond between all of us. Also, I really looked forward to mealtimes as we all got pretty hungry after completing our activities! Saying Grace also helped me to be more appreciative of my food, and make me realise that I should not be picky about what I eat. I really hope that I will be able to do much better in the next Training Camp as a senior.

  29. In this camp, I was the emcee for the campfire together with Rachel and I was very nervous before the campfire but thankfully, I did it! I enjoyed the tent-pitching and how my patrol worked together to complete the task. Even though we finished it hours after the expected time, I am proud of myself and my patrol. I also like being the Orderlies, serving the food and leading Grace.
I learnt to have a sense of urgency as time and tide wait for no man. I also learnt to be more grateful for what I have, in whatever circumstance and not complain so much. I think I should be more helpful and lend a helping hand to others when they are in need.
My favourite moment in camp is during breakfast, when everybody is on the grass, sitting on the sit-upons and in a circle. It is heartwarming to see everyone talking and eating together, enjoying themselves.
I would like to thank all the seniors and guiders, for planning the whole camp and helping us along the way!

  30. 1. What you did and what you have learnt from the camp?
Before the camp, I was quite nervous as it was my first time having our training camp in Camp Christine. This year, training camp was more exciting as it is held in Camp Christine, where we get to experience a real camp, with much lesser facilities available, tents and outdoor cooking...etc. I believe that all of us had enjoyed ourselves and is now more bonded with our patrol members, as most of the time, we were together as a patrol throughout the camp. From this camp, I have learnt that the sense of urgency within us is very important, as it affects our schedule. Not only that, I have also learnt that time management is very important. As a PL, we had to learn how to manage our time wisely and split the job among our patrol members, so that we can be either on time or better still, before time, and thus, we will then be able to enjoy more fun activities together.

    2. What do you think you can improve on?
I would like to improve on my time management, as well as my sense of urgency. As a PL and a senior to the sec 2 guides, I feel that it is important for us to be a good role model for them, and they will be a good role model for the sec 1 guides who are joining us soon, and gradually, this would somehow improve guides standard in terms of efficiency.

    3. Your favourite moment in camp:
To me, the whole camp itself is my favourite moment. It was touching for me to see and know that our patrol members took the initiative to help one another. The one that made me have the fondest memory is during campfire and when before we sleep. During campfire, our patrol was in high spirits and were enjoying ourselves a lot, and every night before we sleep, we will just lie down in our sleeping bags while chatting and bonding with one another. That made me feel very warmed and happy as I could see that our patrol members were trying to know one another better, and they were just chatting leisurely, sharing about their experience in camp for that day.

Overall, I have learnt new things, gain more knowledge on Guiding and camp, and of course, bonded and know my fellow guide friends better =)

  31. This year training camp is definitely 100% different from last year's training camp as it was held in camp christine. First time having camp christine was a great learning experience :D Unlike school where we are familoar with, but in camp christine, it is like forest, trees and stuff , which is a good way to not take good facilities for granted. We did alot of things like outdoor cooking, tent pitching, campfire and games which are related to guides. What i have learnt. I was the patrol leader this year, it was a challenging thing to me as i personally not suit to be a leader , but i learnt how a leader should be and be responsible. i learnt that urgency is the key as we all tends to walk and stroll slowly fron one destination to another which delayed the time schedule and therefore, bearing the consequences by having punishment. So it actually reminded us to have sense of urgency at all times. i also learnt that we are to act fast , do fast and defintely speak fast especially in giving instructions. i can improve on is defintely my responsibility as throughout the camp, it actually shows that my responsibilty is low and i need to buck up on that and also have the sense of urgency too. i also want to improve on my time mangament as i am pretty bad at it, as improving all this , it can actually help me in my daily life too :D My favourite moment is must be the campfire! i felt that during the campfire, everyone was like bonded and singing songs and stuff , which i really like:)and having the performance also help improve out reamwork!it is very nice to see other people good performances and laughing everytime :) Laughing is a good medicine ;) so i really enjoy myself in camp, although it is different from what we do everyday but at least , we gain independence and defintely more bonded than before :D

  32. I did not really know what to expect for the training camp as it was my first year going for the training camp. I had to clean the toilets with my other patrol members on the first day. It was not a bad experience although the toilet floor was quite muddy and the drains had muddy water overflowing. It was quite easy washing the toilets but it was an icky job as I was not used to cleaning toilets. I also did outdoor cooking. It was fun as I had never had a proper outdoor cooking experience in which we had to make our own fire and prepare our own food. The weather on that day was also great. We also had to do tent pitching and had a campfire on the end of the second day. The tent pitching was tiring but an experience for me. I had never pitched a tent. It was hard at first as I did not know what to do but with the guidance of the seniors, I managed to help raise the tent. The campfire was great even though it was indoors. I had learn to work as a team in order to achieve greater things such as to do work more quickly. I also learned to take initiative whenever there is opportunity to do so.

I think I can improve on my sense of urgency as I was not really urgent during camp. I think I can also improve on having more initiative so that the workload would not be on just one person's shoulder. With initiative, we can spread the workload.

My favourite camp experience was when I had to do outdoor cooking. I had never done a proper outdoor cooking where we had to do our own fire and make our own food. The outdoor cooking experience I had before this camp could not match the experience I had doing the outdoor cooking in this training camp. It was actually quite fun in preparing the food and cooking it. We all had to make sure the food does not overcook and the fire did not burn out. The fire did burn out before we hanged the bell chicken. We had to borrow fire from other groups. The graduated ma'ams who were there helped us to light the fire again and help us cook the chicken when we had to go back to the lodge. All in all, this camp was an eye opener for me as I had experience stuff which I have not experience yet.

  33. During the camp, I learnt to be more independent and more appreciative of the things in my life as there were many things that I had taken for granted. I also learnt the importance of teamwork and other useful skills such as how to pitch a tent and make gadgets.
I hope to be more initiative and helpful next time. I also want to improve on my sense of urgencey and time management.
My favourite moment during the camp is the campfire as we had fun singing the various campfire songs and watching other groups perform.

  34. What you did and what you have learnt from the camp?
In ATC 2013, we pitched tent, played games, and had outdoor cooking and campfire too. Unlike last year, we had our camp in Camp Christine, which was a different experience. The atmosphere was different and I felt that I actually, learnt a lot of things from this camp. Firstly, through this, I had learnt skills of a leader. I was fortunate to be given a chance as a PL and learnt how to manage a group, including leading a group to do things efficiently. Also, I had learnt to adapt to the surroundings and be grateful of what I have.

What do you think you can improve on?
As a PL, I could have done better in the areas such as showing more care to those in my patrol. Another area that I can improve is by taking initiative more often and also improve on my time management, like reporting on time without having to rush.

    Your favourite moment in camp?
My favourite moment in camp is when we are having our meals. Firstly, this is different from my meals at home. From the singing of the grace to the passing and sharing of food, it is a very different experience. Secondly, I feel that it is not simply about eating, it is about how the whole of Anderson Guides sit down together, in a circle, and enjoy the food although they were simple meals. When all of us were sitting together, I felt that we are very united and at the same time, I am happy to eat with my fellow guides.

  35. This year Training Camp 2013 was at Camp Christine instead and it felt different.I have learnt a lot of things and it was a good experience for me.One of the things that I have learnt is teamwork.Teamwork is important because with teamwork,we can do things quickly and efficiently while helping one another.I realised that unknowingly,we are also bonding and get to know one another through teamwork.I also learnt to have sense of urgency anytime, even not during Guides so that we can save more time and the period of time can be use to do more things.

I was the QM of my patrol for this year camp and I was shocked knowing that because I am not good in cooking but I eventually gotten over it.I think the QM most important role is during the outdoor cooking because we need to clean the chicken.Upon hearing that I will have to clean the chicken,I panicked because it was my first time and I was scared if I did not do a good job. However,I continued trying my best to do it.It was a bit gross at first as we need to put our bare hands in the chicken to clean it.I realised that I took quite a long time cleaning, marinating and putting aluminium foil and I think that it is bad. Through this experience, I have learnt that time management is important so that we will not delay and things will continue smoothly.I want to improve on taking initiative.

My favourite part of the camp where all of us sit together in the morning around the meal ring for breakfast.I feel that we, as a company has gotten more closer and it is once in awhile where we can sit together and eat.It feels good to see all of us enjoying ourselves, while talking to each other and get closer to each other.

  36. What i did and what i learnt from camp? It is a pretty long list.I had already started thinking of last years training camp. But then after getting to know my patrol through the sessions we had during the holidays i felt more optimistic. My patrol was supposed to be the cook's patrol on the first day but i cant remember stepping into the kitchen because we spent a lot of time trying to pitch our tent.Thankfully, even though it rained about a million times while we were tent pitching,we still had smiles on our faces.Besides that we also had our first dinner together as a whole company.I couldnt believe that i had never noticed how so many similarities between us Guides. It felt so homely.Besides that sleeping in a tent with my patrol was so fun i almost didnt miss my dear bed.Doing patrolling onthe camping grounds making sure it was safe gave me a sense of security. The second day,my patrol was the health patrol and colours party.Leading the other guides for the warm-up was funny because i was half asleep and it felt like i was teaching a bunch of zombies how to wake up.The outdoor cooking was a success for our patrol.I was worried that we wouldnt be able to light a fire because during the practice our patrol used up two boxes of matches. But who would've thought that someone who was afraid of lighting a fire would be able to light it with just one matchstick.Breakfast was a really fun experience because i've always wanted to go on picnics. Now its safe to say i've been on two.Dinner was superb.I remember having more than i should have that night.I usually watch what i eat but it was so good!Campfire was really fun.The performances, cheers and even the fire was just perfect.I really felt like crying when it was declared close because to me it felt like the end of camp. The games were really fun and thank goodness i studied for the first-aid games.Anyways, what i learnt? One is to try and be more understanding.I learnt that i should be more aware of my fellow guides health, feelings and too try and put myself in their shoes.Secondly is to smile always.I probably am smiling a lot of the time but i realised smiling even if you feel tired makes everyone around you feel a little more happier and better.Thirdly i realised what teamwork really is.Its not just about being able to work well but to actually understand each other. If a group has really good teamwork, they get things done fast but they al do a fair share of work and do it well.

What i think i can improve on?
Punctuality.I was not very punctual when told to report despite running around.
Focus.I need to be more focused because i get bored with a task very fast at home,at camp i was too busy trying to help everyone that i forgot what i was supposed to so sometimes.
Stepping out of my comfort zone.Although i can adjust well to change, training camp is not a small change. Its like going from a mansion to living in the streets in my opinion. It took me a long time to get used to the sudden burst of nature around me.

My favourite Moment in camp?me i really enjoyed just being in camp.Bonding with the juniors is the most greatest feeling as well. Some juniors used to intimidate me but after camp we all became more comfortable with each other. Now i can be high with them and not get weird looks thrown my way.The revealing of the Manito was one of my favourite moments as well.I was so surprised and truly touched that my Manito was Eileen. When she held out her hand to me my expression was screenshot-worthy.Besides that i also enjoyed the meals as a company. The silence was not awkward but comfortable because we were all eating.Besides that sleeping with everyone in the tent and the hall on the second night was fun.I didn't think of my dear bed at all that night because it was so comfortable and warm.I really enjoyed camp and hope that everyone regardless of junior, senior and guiders felt the same warmth i felt throughout camp. And yes i am very satisfied with this super long Reflection^^

  37. From this camp i learnt how to take initiative and to work together as a team. i learnt that teamwork and cooperation is very important. Through this camp i have learnt and experience alot of things that i would not be able to experience in daily life. My favourite part of the camp was the tent pitching although it was very hard it was a nice experience^^.
i am very sastified with my patrol :)

  38. Through his camp i learnt that we must always work together and cooperate with each other so that thing turns out well. Other than that, i also learnt that we must always be punctual so that we won't miss out on any important stuff. During the camp, i enjoyed pitching up the tent with my patrol members, but due to lacking of team work we manage to picth the tent and do the gadgets in 3 hours when we are only given 1 and a 1/2 hours. So, from this experience i learnt that we should give out the task properly and manage our time properly so that we do not delay other peoples time

  39. In this camp I learnt that we should cooperate and work as a company in order to get things done fast, and that we should all take initiative to help one another, and be responsible for our own actions. I enjoyed the games we played together such as the wide games and first aid games, and felt that it helped the patrols bond together through the tasks they had to overcome through teamwork.

  40. In this camp, I pitched tent, had outdoor cooking, played many games and helped out in the kitchen. Through this camp, I learnt about teamwork, resilience, leadership and how to be positive at all times. Even if we faced many difficulties as a patrol, I'm sure we cooperated with one another and managed to overcome the challenges and hurdles we faced. My fellow patrol members were very supportive of each other and they cooperated well with the PL. Even when we were stressed during the outdoor cooking as we had to prepare the food before a certain time, we managed to stay positive and helped the other patrols as well. I would want to improve on the time we take to do things. I think we should not take our own sweet time to do things and have a sense of urgency. We also should take initiative and help other patrols when they are in need of our help. Instead of slacking after we are done with our patrol, we should find ways to help the other patrols. If we spread the workload, we might be able to finish things in time. My favourite moment of the camp was eating in the meal rings. I like how we aren't supposed to start eating until everybody has settled down in the meal ring and sung grace. I think it's a good habit, to wait for others to get their food before starting to eat. By singing grace before we start eating, we also show how thankful we are as we have food. I also like how there isn't any food wasted. I myself started to appreciate the things i have in life and learnt not to be greedy and want too much. Overall, I had a fun experience.

  41. For training camp, i was suddenly put as the leader because my patrol leader was unable to come. For me, it was a very new experience because I don't usually take up leadership positions because i'm afraid of not doing well and letting my members down. So I was afraid of what would happen with me as the leader. However, i was determined not to lose out because I am competitive and also because this was a chance to prove myself. It taught me how to deal with stress. Having only 2 days left before camp, I knew I had to be very conscientious in my planning to make sure that nothing goes wrong.

Honestly, I am very proud of myself. There were many moments in camp where I was very stressed and disappointed in myself. I knew that as a leader, you shouldn't show negative emotions to your patrol members. Admittedly, i lost my control once. At that point, i told myself that I was doing okay considering my last minute leadership. Later on, as i thought back. I think that no matter what kind of situation I was in, I should still have been able to do as well as other patrols. It didn't matter if we had lesser people, we have the capability.

Through this camp, i have learnt many things. Urgency, teamwork, co-operation, Bonding, leadership, concern and many more.

Other than better control of my emotions, I would like to be more prepared, as our guides motto. Our performance for campfire was impromptu due to the lack of people thus the inability of the script. I would also like to start having backup plans. If anything goes wrong, i as a leader should know what to do. I need to guide my members, because they are depending on me to know what to do. When many people depend on me, i want to do my best for them. If they are under me they must strive to do their best and nothing less.

My favourite part in camp is the sleeping in the lodge with the whole company. This might seem odd, but i liked that we could be together as a company. It would have been finding out the manito, however this year it wasn't as active. I do my best to bring up the mood, but it didn't work during the manito session.
